Welcome to Gateway Classical Music Society!
Dear Gateway family,
As the year comes to a close, I hope you are all well and enjoying the season. I am thinking of all of you and reflecting upon Gateway’s many exciting accomplishments since 2004. Our tenth anniversary year of 2014 included our first regional tour to several neighborhoods in NY (including Harlem to which the performance was offered free of charge to residents), CT and NJ. So many of you have phoned and emailed expressing your enthusiasm for Gateway. Those calls are very meaningful to me and help to ignite the fire needed to surmount more productions. As any artist or arts organization must, Gateway Classical Music Society is evolving, developing and aspiring to greater things. At the same time, we are facing a challenging mix of elevated costs for music, large instrument and equipment rental, rehearsal and performance space, other increased production costs and other difficult challenges of the still slow economy.
Our supporters have been very loyal to us, with most of them renewing their gifts year after year, and we have also been pleased to welcome new donors, some of whom are choristers, soloists, and others who believe Gateway’s Great Works of Art productions are a valuable asset to our society and to artists. Still, we need to increase the support we receive through charitable giving. As the year comes to an end, please give serious thought to making a tax-deductible contribution to Gateway Classical Music Society.
We have received a valuable gift from a patron of two front row tickets to the December 6, 2014 6:00 p.m. Metropolitan Opera performance of Wagner’s Die Meistersinger. This gift will be awarded to the donor who provides the most support for our Tenth Anniversary Holiday Wish List and Contest. This contest is an opportunity to help Gateway acquire our own music stands and LED lights for the orchestra which will economize significantly on the annual rental of these items and increase production capability. Details are attached. Other gift incentives are listed on our donations page. The deadline to participate for the Wagner tickets is December 1, 2014. The deadline to participate in the Wish List without trying to obtain the Wagner tickets is December 31, 2014.
If you have helped before, please consider giving again in whatever amount is right for you before the end of the year. I send my warmest wishes for a prosperous New Year of peace, rewarding experiences and the inimitable joys of great music.
